Become a mentor

  • Sign up online for the next mentor training.
  • This program is designed to provide a one hour a week commitment for one year.
    • Terms can be changed if needed
  • Mentors will need to fill out an application, receive a background check (at no cost), and go through 6 hours of training.
  • Once Applications are received, we will do our best to match you with a mentee that is right for you.
  • You will then be contacted to inform you of your match and to schedule the first meeting
  • Your first meeting will take place at our office with your mentee, and our Connecting Coordinator
  • Connecting Coordinator will help both of you set times and places of future meetings.
  • Both will be given a handbook of program guidelines and contacts
  • The rest is up to you and your mentee, with the support of Children’s Lantern.

Donations/Sponsorship Options

Would you consider a gift? To ease the process of becoming a mentor, we are not requiring mentors to cover some of the costs involved. We very much would like to keep this process as painless, but as protected, as possible. You can still be a part! Here are a few ideas:
  • Not able to become a mentor at this time, but you would like to sponsor someone else to do so. Background checks for each person are $65.
  • Sponsor a mentor/mentee to have a special night out like bowling, the movies, dinner or ice cream.
  • Help with gas cards for travel for mentors.
  • Or maybe you would like to do both or all of the above!
Head over to our GIVE page! All donations are tax deductible.
