Who We Are
Shane and Annie Beauprez live and work in our Defiance community. They met here and they continue to raise their kids here too. They have two biological kids Paige and Mason who will welcome their new brother with open arms. They too have been along on this journey to adding a child to their family through adoption.

Our Story
Our journey towards adoption started over 20 years ago.
Before we met, my husband and I separately had an interest in adoption and knew that when we did get married, adoption would be a definite option for how we created a family. Since we have been married, conversations of starting a family always led to adoption. We started our family shortly after marriage, we currently have two biological children ages 13 & 14. In January of 2011, after the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti, Shane went to serve the people, to help rebuild homes and hearts of those who suffered such great loss. After returning home, we both knew it was time to put our fears aside and to start pursuing adoption.
Since it is the most common response and honestly, a legitimate question, let me tell you “Why? Why adoption?” We have decided to adopt because we have been called by God to adopt. Our hearts are broken for all the children in the world who do not have families, homes or even food. There are millions of orphans in the world. It is overwhelming to think about. We cannot save them all, but we can save one. March of 2011 we started the process of adoption in Ethiopia. When we started the process of adoption in the country of Ethiopia, we were told a maximum of 2 years from start to finish to bring a child home. One thing is certain in adoption, nothing is ever certain. The country of Ethiopia has drastically reduced the number of children to be adopted over the years and the process has become far more complex. In the last 6 years we prayed and asked God if we should change countries, adopt through foster care, or all together end the journey. We never got a clear answer. We opened our hearts to the possibility of a child from another country with a broken heart at the end of it. At the time we felt very hopeless that the dream that was instilled in our hearts at a very tender, young age to pursue adoption had died. Our hearts were aching. We threw in the towel.
Seven months later, we received a phone call from our adoption agency asking if we would be willing to redo our paperwork again as they might have a referral of a child for us within a month. We were blindsided as we were slowly letting go of the hope and dream of another child. After prayer we decided this would be our last go of it and whatever happened, both good or bad, we would trust God’s plan for our life. Fast forward 6 months and after 6 years we are excited to have a FACE! We have a reason WHY we waited and HOPE has been restored to our family. We have endured much in this journey….. heartache, pain, hope-deferred, growth, finding one self, becoming a tighter knit family, a stronger marriage and learning to trust a God who never forsakes us.
Over the past 6 years we have incurred much costs as we have had to keep our paperwork up to date every year. We have roughly $10,000 left for travel cost. We thank you for taking time to read our story. We pray that God will use our story for His glory.
